Auburn coach Gus Malzahn put the finishing touches on the Tigers' recruiting class of 2020 on Wednesday, adding an handful of players to the roster before print deadline.
After early signing period in December, one of the most anticipated signees for Wednesday was defensive tackle Jay Hardy, a four-star prospect out of McCallie High in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The suspense was somewhat short-lived, though, as Hardy signed during the early period but kept it under wraps until it was leaked in January. The 6-4, 280-pound prospect is ranked the No. 13 tackle in the country and No. 100 player overall by 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Tigers added some more help along the defensive line with the addition of for-star strongside defensive end Deandre Butler, who signed on Wednesday after committing last week. Butler, out of Independence Community College in Kansas, is ranked the No. 1 JUCO end in the nation and No. 4 JUCO player overall. He chose Auburn over offers from Oklahoma and Oregon.
New Auburn offfensive coordinator Chad Morris played a large role in pulling tight end Brandon Frazier to the Plains. Frazier, a four-star recruit out of McKinney, Texas, decommitted from Arkansas after Morris was fired in November. Frazier decided to follow Morris to Auburn, committing to the Tigers last week and signing on Wednesday. Frazier is ranked the No. 9 tight end in the nation and No. 342 player overall.
Three-star JUCO offensive tackle Marquis Burks also committed to the Tigers on Wednesday, although he admitted that he already signed with the Tigers in December.
Those commitments join an impressive group already enrolled or signed with the Tigers.
Ten players have already enrolled and are taking class, including bluechip running back Tank Bigsby, a four-star ranked the No. 4 back in the country and No. 39 player overall. Other early enrollees include four-star defensive end Zykeivous Walker, four-star wide receiver Kobe Hudson, four-star athlete Ladarius Tennison, four-star safety Chris Thompson, Jr., as well as a host of three-stars, including linebacker Romello Height, JUCO offensive tackle Killan Zierer, offensive guards Avery Jernigan and Tate Johnson, and dual-threat quarterback Chayil Garnett.
Those joining the Tigers this summer include four-star linebacker Wesley Steiner, Hardy, four-star wide receivers Ze'Vian Capers and J.J. Evans, four-star safety Eric Reed, four-star athlete Jeremiah Pegues, four-star linebackers Desmond Tisdol and Cameron Riley, and four-star cornerback Marco Domio. A number of three-star signees will also arrive this summer, including JUCO tackle Brenden Coffey, defensive end Daniel Foster-Allen, wide receiver Elijah Canion and offensive guard Jeremiah Wright.
As of print deadline, the Tigers' 2020 class is ranked No. 7 overall and No. 5 in the SEC.
