Eric Schuster

This week's Athlete of the Week is Lee-Scott Academy junior Eric Schuster, who plays football for the Warriors.

The Auburn Villager: What positions do you play?

Eric Schuster: I'm backup quarterback and I'm safety, but they just moved me to tight end a week ago.

AV: How are you adjusting to the new position?

ES: I like it. My height definitely helps. I like playing tight end and I have fairly good hands, so it's fun.

AV: What are the challenges of stepping in and playing there?

ES: Definitely just getting used to it. I'm used to playing quarterback, but now I'm playing receiver, so it's a whole new experience, really.

AV: How did it feel being able to put touchdowns on the board last week?

ES: That was fun. I enjoyed that a lot. It was my first touchdown of the year, so that's a good way to start it off, with two, especially.

AV: When did you get your start playing football?

ES: I started when I was 9. I did play tight end when I was 9, but that was about the last time.

AV: Do you play any other sports?

ES: I play basketball. I play center, but I prefer to play small forward.

AV: Do you have  role model in football?

ES: My role model would definitely have to be Tom Brady because Tom Brady's just a great guy and a great quarterback, in my opinion.

AV: What do you like about his game?

ES: How accurate he is and how it didn't really matter what his combine looked like. He just got better and better, and even though he was just really underrated, he just rose up out of nowhere.

AV: Do you have a favorite college team?

ES: I love Auburn.

AV: Do you have any idea where you want to attend college?

ES: Academically — I don't know about sports — but I definitely want to go to Auburn in the future.

AV: Do you have any hobbies outside of high school sports?

ES: I like hunting and fishing.
