Growing up, few people in my hometown seemed to care a lot about the celebration of the Labor Day holiday. 

To the best of my memory, it was just a day set aside to give all the school-aged youngsters an extra day off from classes. I don’t think many people had a good grasp on why everyone got involved in this national holiday.
