East Alabama Health has opened two centers at the Auburn Medical Pavilion that will bring much-needed services closer to Auburn residents' doors.

The Auburn Medical Pavilion, located at 900 Camp Auburn Road, opened its doors in June and is now offering a wide array of services.

Last week, EAH announced the opening of its new Breast Health Center on the third floor of the Auburn Medical Pavilion. The center is equipped with the latest imaging for breast health, including three 3D mammography and two ultrasound machines, according to a news release from EAH. Same-day results for most breast screenings will be offered.

"What we're offering here is truly exciting because this area has needed it for a long time," said Dr. Cynthia Lorino, who will serve as the imaging medical director of the Breast Health Center. "It's a comprehensive breast center, which means all of the imaging you need you can have at our facility.

"That includes everything from screening mammograms and ultrasounds to biopsies. Plus, we're putting into place ways to follow up with patients who have a positive diagnosis so that we make sure you're taken care of the best way possible."

On Tuesday, EAH announced the opening of the East Alabama Ambulatory Surgery Center at the Auburn Medical Pavilion. The center will offer certain outpatient procedures in a joint venture between EAMC and a group of 16 local physicians in specialties such as orthopaedics, ear nose and throat (ENT), plastic surgery, ophthalmology, gastroenterology (GI), and general surgery.

"This facility and joint venture are both a few years in the making, so it's very exciting to see it finally becoming a reality," said Laura Grill, EAH president and CEO, in a news release. "With our community growing, it was important to provide a more convenient location for residents in the western portion of Lee County, as well as other counties in that general area, to be able to have outpatient surgery in addition to the other services available inside the Auburn Medical Pavilion."

Dr. Trent Wilson, an orthopedist and the chairman of the joint venture managing board, said the other physicians are excited to get started.

"An outpatient surgery center has been a long time coming in the east Alabama area, " he said. "The local surgeons who will be operating there are excited to be able to offer high-quality, cost-effective and efficient surgical care in this beautiful, easy-access center in Auburn."
