Volunteers at the Food Bank of East Alabama are given instructions on how to sort food on Monday

While few are expecting Auburn to best its cross-state rival on the field come November's Iron Bowl, the area community has the opportunity boost school pride and help defend the Tigers' reign in this year's Beat 'Bama Food Drive, which kicked off last week. 

A competition annually held for the past 28 years between the communities of Auburn and Tuscaloosa to help stock the shelves at the Food Bank of East Alabama and West Alabama Food Bank, the Beat 'Bama Food Drive will be more important than ever this year as food supplies are lower than normal as the food bank readies itself to fight food insecurity during the holiday season.
