Before the football team moves in and it closes to the general public, Auburn opened the doors to the public to check out the Woltosz Football Performance Center.Â
The performance center, a roughly $92 million, 233,400-square-foot football-only facility, is named in honor of Walt and Ginger Woltosz, who gave, at that time, the largest gift in Auburn Athletics history to fund the project.Â
The football performance center has all the bells and whistles. It features a 25,000-square-foot football training space for lifting weights and three inclined running ramps, among other amenities. It's named the Creel Family Player Development Lab in honor of Keith and Ginger Creel, who gifted funds toward the project.Â
Even the lighting in the weight room is state-of-the-art. It's made to look like eagles in flight, with additional theatrical lighting that can focus on a single weight rack during max-rep days for dramatic effect, according to a informational sheet given to media.Â
The performance center also features a new indoor, football practice facility with all LED lighting. The facility is much quieter than the older indoor facility and features plenty of natural lighting and a built-in camera system. It also features a speaker system that can reach 130 decibels to better simulate crowd noise and the game-day atmosphere.Â
The medicine area is easily accessed from the indoor facility. It features a HydroWorx 2000 aqua therapy pool, four wet pools and an adjustable underwater treadmill, as well as hot and cold tubs and a large plunge pool. Nearby, players can get scanned by a Falcon Pursuit machine, which takes a 1,000 pictures to provide data points to help develop 3-D printed braces and gear.Â
There are also areas for football players to congregate and relax. A large lounge area features plush, oversized bean-bag chairs and sofas facing a 9-by-28-foot video wall that can stream video or be used for gaming.Â
