Auburn Area Community Theatre announces open auditions for youth ages 5- 12 for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr., presented through Musical Theater International, on August 12th and 13th from 3-6 p.m. at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. No previous experience necessary!

Join us for this high-flying musical adventure of Caractacus Potts and his children, Jeremy and Jemima, as they restore an old car that has magical abilities. They join forces with Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts to escape the evil Baron Bomburst’s schemes as he tries to take the car for himself.

Please come prepared with only 30 seconds of an acapella song. Be prepared to present short lines (sides) for one character. These lines will be given to you. There will also be a brief dance and movement portion of the audition. You can access audition tips, our rehearsal attendance policy, and download the character sides at Please choose only one character to read for.

You may sign up for a time slot, or simply show up at auditions and get the next available time slot. You are not required to sign up for an audition time online, but it is highly recommended. There will be NO signup list at the Jan Dempsey Art Center in advance of audition dates.

Callbacks, by invitation only, will be held August 15th from 3-7p.m. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-6p.m. and Saturday from 9a.m. until noon from August 19th- September 28th. No rehearsals will take place on 8/31 or 9/2 during Labor Day weekend. Tech week rehearsals will be Monday through Wednesday, 9/30-10/2, from 3:30-7p.m. Performance dates are October 3rd-5th, 7th, and 10th-12th.
