DeLano to succeed Jenkins

Dr. Karen Teague DeLano accepted the position of Auburn City Schools' superintendent following Tuesday night's school board meeting.

DeLano, an Auburn native and the current assistant superintendent of Vestavia Hills Schools, was one of the top three candidates from a pool of 48 inquiries and 20 formal applications.

"Her experience, her education and what she brings to the position is a very good balance," said Laura Cooper, Auburn School Board president.

Delano will succeed Dr. Terry Jenkins in June.
